The terms that apply when you work with Careers Expert Group. Effective 19 October 2026.
These terms apply to the services provided by Careers Expert Group Pty Ltd, trading as Careers Expert Group ("we", "us", "our"), to clients in New Zealand, and to your use of this website. By booking or paying for a service, you agree to them. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
We provide executive career services, including executive CVs, LinkedIn profiles, board and non-executive director positioning, public sector applications, interview coaching, outplacement and our programmes: Executive Profile, Executive Brand, Executive Strategy and Executive Transition. What is included in each is described on our website and confirmed with you before you start. Interview coaching is delivered by video.
Your free CV assessment and initial consultation are provided without charge and without obligation.
We work to improve how you are positioned and how you reach the market, but appointment decisions are made by employers, boards and search firms, not by us. We do not guarantee that you will be shortlisted, interviewed, offered a role, or offered a particular salary. Any market information, opportunities or introductions we share are given in good faith and may change.
We will not approach a search firm, employer, board or recruiter on your behalf, or share your documents with them, without your agreement.
The quality of our work depends on the information you give us. You agree to provide information that is accurate and complete, to attend scheduled sessions or give reasonable notice if you cannot, and to give feedback on drafts in good time. You are responsible for checking that your final documents are accurate before you use them. If you ask us to depart from our professional advice, we will do so, but we cannot be responsible for the outcome.
Timeframes we give, such as delivering first drafts within three business days of your consultation, are targets rather than guarantees, and they start once we have the information we need from you. We aim to complete revisions within one business day of your request. If you are working to an application deadline, please engage us at least ten business days beforehand. We are not responsible for missed application deadlines.
Fees are confirmed with you before you start, in New Zealand dollars, and exclude GST unless stated. Payment is due in full when you book, unless you choose a payment plan we offer. For the Executive Transition programme, the first payment is due when you start, followed by monthly payments for the remainder of the six-month programme, charged to your nominated card or account on the due dates.
If a scheduled payment fails, we may pause your programme until it is made. If we make an error in billing you, we will refund the amount in full as soon as we become aware of it.
Your Executive Transition Coach will revise your documents until you are satisfied with them. If you are unhappy with your coach, please tell us and, where we agree it is warranted, we will assign a different coach at no extra cost. Timeframes restart so your new coach can get up to speed.
Our services are bespoke: you are paying for an expert's time, not a finished product. If you wish to cancel:
For the Executive Transition programme, you can end the programme by telling us in writing at least seven days before your next monthly payment is due. No further payments will be taken, and the payments already made for the work and months delivered are not refundable.
We will not refund fees because a deadline was missed, an application was unsuccessful, or you chose not to use the documents or advice we provided. These limits do not affect your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, including where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill.
We treat your career plans, documents and the details of your search as confidential, and handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.
Once you have paid in full, the documents we write for you are yours to use for your own career. Our methods, templates, frameworks and website content remain our property and may not be copied or used commercially without our written permission.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of income or opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
If something is not right, please contact us in writing at support@careersexpert.com. We aim to respond within two business days and to resolve complaints fairly and promptly.
